More about Modular Home Floor Plans...
Before choosing a floor plan for a modular home there are some things to consider. Many modular home manufacturers have standard plans from which to choose but the customer is by no means limited to just these stock plans. Modular homes can be configured in many different ways.
When considering a modular home floorplan, think about the features you desire in a new home. Draw upon the home you currently live in or past homes you have lived in and combine the features from each to determine exactly how you want your new home to look. Other factors figure into the floorplan design such as topography of the lot on which it will sit and the neighborhood in which it will be located. Considerations such as traffic flow within the home and useable living spaces should also be a factor in choosing the right floorplan.
Also, please be aware that most stock plans have a floorplan associated with an exterior elevation. The two are not joined at the hip. For example, if you find a plan for a Cape Cod style home you really like but a ranch style would work better in your location, chances are that with a few minor modifications, the results you want can be achieved.
Most manufacturers of modular homes will have dozens floor plans you can look through. Many can also build from any other set of floorplans if you already have picked one out. Talk to your manufacturer if you don't find what you are looking for They may have access to more floor plans, or they may be able to alter one to fit your needs.
